Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Maddie

Maddie  (My Joy)
7/4/1999 - 8/26/10

I got Maddie as a puppy and she was such a good and easy dog to raise. Early on during the house breaking faze I left her out of her crate while I ran to the store. When I opened the door she had gotten one shoe out of each pair, piled them in the middle of the living room and was sound asleep on top of the pile! It was the cutest thing I’d ever seen! Not one shoe was chewed on!  No matter how bad of a day I had once I opened my front door Maddie was waiting for me and just by her joyfulness and kisses my bad day, in an instant, was forgotten.

My girl was diagnosed with mammary cancer over a year ago. I decided to go the holistic route instead of chemo/radiation. I believe it was the right choice for her because she played up until about a month ago. I truly believe her quality and length of life was extended due to her diet, the herbal remedies and acupuncture Dr. Pam gave her. I will be forever grateful for Dr. Pam who was always sincere and loving towards Maddie and respectful of any decision that I made in respect to Maddies care.
My loving Maddie passed away peacefully with my arms around her as she crossed over from this life.  She was my best friend and words are not enough to describe the emptiness and sadness I feel. But the joy and unconditional love she brought into my life will always be with me and I know we will be together again. It also brings me comfort knowing she is not confined to her failing body any longer . . . she’s being her joyful, loving, goofy self having a great time!
